KUALA LUMPUR, February 6 — Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is showing encouraging progress in his recovery after being admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) on January 6 following a fall at his residence in The Mines that resulted in a right hip fracture.

After a month of treatment, Dr Mahathir was granted “home leave” on February 4 and 5, allowing him to return home overnight while continuing daytime treatment and medical observation at IJN. In a statement, his office said the medical team is satisfied with his recovery progress and response to medical care and physiotherapy.

Although he remains under close supervision and has not been discharged. Doctors have advised that he refrain from receiving visitors except for immediate family, while Dr Mahathir, his wife and family expressed their gratitude to the public for their concern and prayers for his health and wellbeing.
