BAYAN LEPAS, February 7 – Global embedded and edge computing leader congatec has established a new subsidiary in Penang, marking a strategic expansion of its engineering and research footprint in Asia.
The move aligns with the company’s “local for local” strategy and anchors high-value embedded computing design, customisation and technical support capabilities in Malaysia, strengthening its ability to serve customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Penang operation begins with a team of 23 specialised embedded engineers onboarded from Kontron Asia, with plans to grow to about 70 employees over time. Supported by InvestPenang and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
The centre will focus on advanced R&D, application-ready solutions and customised platforms developed to congatec’s “Designed in Germany” standards, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for next-generation embedded and edge computing innovation.
