GEORGE TOWN, February 9 — The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) has launched an investigation into a fatal accident at a hospital construction site here after receiving a report of an incident that occurred on Feb 6 at about 11.42am.

The accident involved an Indonesian male worker who died after the cement truck he was driving fell and overturned into the basement construction area while concrete supply works were underway.

Following the incident, DOSH issued two prohibition notices halting all Readymix concrete supply activities by the company involved and banning the use of access routes to the concrete batching plant pending completion of investigations.

DOSH said further inquiries are being carried out to determine the cause of the accident, warning that strict legal action will be taken against employers found to have violated provisions under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
