KUALA LUMPUR, February 9 — Applications for Phase 2 of the Media Innovation Fund will open from Feb 9 to Feb 22, 2026, aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s media ecosystem through training, technology, equipment, and research and development (R&D).
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the RM30 million fund aligns with the Malaysia MADANI vision to accelerate media industry transformation and ensure it remains competitive, resilient, and relevant in the digital era.
He said the fund focuses on four key areas: media workforce training, software and technology adaptation (including AI), equipment and support facilities, and innovative content R&D. Eligible applicants must be local media organisations registered with the Department of Information Malaysia and hold valid media accreditation.
Fahmi added that the fund will be administered with integrity to encourage creative, high-impact content production and strengthen media organisations in delivering accurate and beneficial information to the public.
