KUALA LUMPUR, February 12 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has clarified that under the new School Curriculum 2027, the History subject at the primary school level will only be offered to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, following media reports on the matter.
During an oral question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today, Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh explained that the new curriculum, set to begin next year, will involve Year 1 and Form 1 students, with History introduced at primary level only in the upper years.
At the secondary level, the subject will continue to be offered starting from Form 1. The ministry said the clarification aims to address public queries regarding the implementation of History in the upcoming curriculum framework.
