TANJUNG TOKONG, February 13 — Residents of Tanjung Bunga and Tanjung Tokong held a peaceful protest against a proposal allowing Stonyhurst International School Penang to manage public park and seafront land near Straits Green, citing official CMI minutes from Feb 19, 2024.
The Tanjung Bunga Residents’ Association warned this could set a dangerous precedent by restricting public access, noting MBPP requires public spaces remain open while PLANMalaysia@Penang opposes the plan.
They urged the Penang State Government to clarify the matter, guarantee Straits Green remains fully public, and suspend any arrangements until proper public consultation is conducted.
