KUALA LUMPUR, February 14 — A group of government backbenchers led by Rafizi Ramli has called for the immediate suspension of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki and the launch of an independent and transparent investigation.
Following serious allegations reported by Bloomberg involving alleged abuse of power and misconduct within enforcement agencies. The MPs cited claims of money laundering investigations involving businessman Victor Chin.
Alleged interference in a police firearms case, and purported collusion between MACC officers and businessmen, warning that failure to act decisively could erode public trust and echo past scandals such as 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The lawmakers said they would mobilise cross-party parliamentary support, engage civil society including Bersih, and lodge police reports to ensure the allegations are thoroughly investigated, stressing that the Madani government must respond firmly to uphold integrity and public confidence.
