KUALA LUMPUR, February 17 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians not to let provocations, emotions or differences in opinion fracture national harmony as the country prepares to celebrate Chinese New Year.

In a festive message, he said such differences should instead be turned into opportunities to strengthen goodwill, reject prejudice and embrace dialogue and wisdom, stressing that unity remains the foundation of Malaysia’s multiracial society.

Speaking during a celebration with residents in Tambun, Anwar said the Year of the Horse symbolises diligence, courage and resilience guided by moderation. Citing the teachings of Confucius, he noted that harmony arises when people respect and understand one another.

Adding that these values are crucial to preserving trust and peaceful coexistence despite cultural and religious differences. Anwar expressed confidence that Malaysia will continue to progress as long as mutual respect and compassion remain shared principles.

And extended his festive wishes of “Gong Xi Fa Cai” and prosperity to all Malaysians celebrating the occasion.
