KUALA LUMPUR, February 17 — Muslims across Malaysia will begin fasting for Ramadan on Thursday, Feb 19, following an official announcement by Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.

He said the date was set in accordance with the command of Sultan Ibrahim after receiving the consent of the Malay Rulers, with the proclamation broadcast live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) tonight.

The moon-sighting process to determine the start of the fasting month was conducted at 29 locations nationwide, including the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

And several official observatories and hilal complexes in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor. The announcement marks the beginning of Ramadan 1447 Hijrah for all states in Malaysia.
