KUALA LUMPUR, February 18 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s trade missions and overseas visits in 2025 generated RM45.4 billion in export sales, driven by stronger trade ties with countries including the UK, China, South Korea, Brazil, France and several African nations.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar noted that key contributing sectors included liquefied natural gas, palm oil, electrical and electronic products, with strong growth also seen in semiconductors, aerospace products and furniture.

The prime minister, who is also Finance Minister, added that Malaysia recorded its highest-ever trade volume of RM3.06 trillion in 2025, despite global uncertainties linked to US policy measures and geopolitical tensions.

He said the country posted a trade surplus of RM151.8 billion, up 9.2 per cent year-on-year, with emerging markets such as Kyrgyzstan, Yemen and Tanzania showing sharp export growth, while the government continues to review utility and service charges to ensure Malaysia remains competitive for investors.
