BAYAN LEPAS, February 19 — Chow Kon Yeow has instructed the Penang machinery of Pakatan Harapan (PH) to begin early preparations for the next General Election, with less than two years believed to remain in the current term.
He said the focus will be on internal strengthening, including restructuring party machinery, refining strategies and enhancing organisational effectiveness at all levels. The decision, made during a meeting in early February.
Is aimed at defending PH’s administration at both the state and federal levels and is not influenced by current political developments involving other parties. Speaking at the Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Chinese New Year MADANI Open House at Wisma PKR.
Chow, who is also Penang Chief Minister, described this year as crucial for consolidating party strength and improving the government’s performance record. He stressed that preparations must begin now to ensure voters are presented with a convincing track record by election time.
In a press conference later, he added that any decision on whether the General Election and State Election will be held simultaneously rests entirely with the federal leadership, and PH Penang will abide by the decision made.
