WhatsApp has launched one of its most requested features, Group Message History, allowing new members in a group chat to catch up on recent messages. When adding someone to a group, admins and members can choose to share between 25 and 100 of the most relevant messages.
All clearly marked with timestamps and sender information. The feature maintains end-to-end encryption and can be disabled entirely by admins for sensitive conversations, ensuring privacy while helping newcomers quickly understand ongoing discussions.
This rollout follows recent additions such as member tags, text stickers, and event reminders, reinforcing WhatsApp’s focus on making group chats more user-friendly. Meta emphasized that message history is not automatically shared.
Giving groups control over what new members see and promoting a smoother, more transparent group chat experience without relying on screenshots or forwarded messages.
