KUALA LUMPUR, February 24 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) recorded 9.4 million domestic passenger movements across its network in January 2026, marking a strong start to Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport led year-on-year growth with 5.9 million passengers, up 8.2 per cent, followed by Penang International Airport with 741,183 passengers, a 3.8 per cent increase.
Managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said the rise reflects robust travel demand and expanding regional connectivity, with infrastructure upgrades, the launch of RIMBA @ KLIA rest area, improved vehicle access management systems achieving 99 per cent compliance.
And six new direct routes linking Malaysia to major Chinese cities and Hong Kong further supporting tourism and economic growth.
