GEORGE TOWN, February 24 — A 37-year-old local woman was found unconscious inside a locked car at a petrol station in Paya Terubong, Ayer Itam, on Sunday, according to the Northeast District Police.

Police said they received a public report at about 7.55pm on Feb 22, although the woman was first discovered unresponsive in the vehicle at around 4pm.

The car doors were locked from the inside and were later opened with assistance from the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, after which ambulance personnel confirmed her death at the scene.

Northeast district police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said investigations found no elements of foul play. A post-mortem conducted by the Forensic Department of Hospital Pulau Pinang determined the cause of death as pneumonia.

The case has been classified as sudden death, and a Sudden Death Report has been opened for further investigation.
