GEORGE TOWN, February 26 — A 33-year-old local man was seriously injured after being attacked with a machete in front of a commercial building along Jalan Kelawai at about 8am yesterday.

According to Northeast District police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad, preliminary investigations found that the victim was assaulted by a group of local male suspects who arrived on motorcycles and attacked him near the building’s lobby before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to Hospital Pulau Pinang for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, and police are actively tracking down those responsible.
