GEORGE TOWN, February 27 – The 880-acre Penang Technology Park @ Bertam has completed its first phase of core infrastructure works, with Phase Two now 85% finished and on track for full completion by June this year.

Developed by IDEAL Property Group, the private industrial park is emerging as a key hub in Penang’s semiconductor ecosystem, with over 55% of its land already sold, including to several leading Chinese high-tech firms.

Chief Operating Officer Datuk Wu Zhen Fu said the park’s upgraded four-lane access roads, internal 100-foot-wide roads, utilities, 5G connectivity, gas pipelines and security systems will provide a robust operating environment for investors.

As negotiations continue to attract more renewable energy and semiconductor players. The park has secured major foreign direct investments, including lithium battery separator manufacturer INV New Material Technology’s RM6.4 billion, 66-acre facility — its first in ASEAN.

Which began Phase One operations in June 2025, as well as SuperSiC’s first large-scale overseas production base for silicon carbide wafers and Trensor’s RM100 million manufacturing plant set to commence operations in 2026.

With several factories under construction and more breaking ground this year, the technology park is positioning itself as a new growth engine for high-value manufacturing, AI, new energy and R&D in northern Penang.
