PETALING JAYA, February 27 — PKR has issued a show-cause letter to Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli after he stated his intention to defend his parliamentary seat in the next general election (GE16) but not on a PKR ticket.
The letter, sent by PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh, seeks clarification on his remarks, which Rafizi said were made in the context of plans after Parliament is dissolved. He insisted that he has not left PKR and remains a party member until he formally resigns.
Rafizi also suggested PKR might be hoping he voluntarily quits to vacate his seat, as sacking him would allow him to retain it. While he confirmed he would not join a “third force” or form a new party, he has been openly critical of PKR and its president.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, following his loss in the deputy presidency race last year. Rafizi plans to respond to the show-cause letter and explain his position.
