PUTRAJAYA, February 28 — The National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026 celebration will be held in Penang this June, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced.
He said the event is expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, adding that minor adjustments to the date are being finalised.
Fahmi spoke to reporters after the Prime Minister’s breaking of fast event with media practitioners and influencers at the Seri Perdana Complex.
Last year’s HAWANA was held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre, serving as a key platform to honour media practitioners and strengthen the journalism ecosystem.
Organised by the Ministry of Communications with Bernama as implementing agency, past celebrations were hosted in Melaka, Ipoh and Kuching.
