KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Special Investigation Committee probing shareholding allegations involving Azam Baki is expected to submit its findings within days.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Anwar said the panel, led by Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, would complete its investigation this week.

The government will assess the report’s reasonableness and determine whether the scope should be expanded to address concerns raised by Members of Parliament.

The probe follows a Bloomberg report alleging Azam held 17.7 million shares in a company, potentially breaching a 2024 circular limiting civil servants’ shareholdings.

Anwar said it is premature to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry, stressing that due process must take its course. He added the Cabinet is prepared to widen the investigation if necessary.

Azam has denied wrongdoing and filed a RM100 million defamation suit against Bloomberg over the report.
