KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 – The government will maintain the subsidised RON95 petrol price at RM1.99 per litre, with no major policy changes planned, said Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Nasir.
He said the ongoing Middle East conflict does not warrant drastic adjustments, adding that the targeted subsidy mechanism will continue to ensure reasonable fuel prices for Malaysians.
On March 1, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed efforts to retain the RM1.99 rate under the Budi Madani RON95 programme despite global oil price uncertainties linked to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Akmal added that the 2026 GDP growth forecast of 4.0–4.5 per cent remains unchanged.
