KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 – Bank Negara Malaysia maintained the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 2.75% following its Monetary Policy Committee meeting on March 5. Saying the current level remains appropriate to support Malaysia’s economic growth while maintaining price stability.

The central bank noted that domestic conditions remain stable, with steady growth and moderate inflation. BNM said the Malaysian economy is facing global uncertainties from the ongoing Middle East conflict but remains resilient with strong domestic demand and a sound financial sector.

Malaysia’s economy expanded 5.2% in 2025, while inflation stood at 1.6% in January 2026. The central bank added it will continue monitoring global developments and risks to domestic growth and inflation.
