GEORGE TOWN, March 5 — Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik will be sworn in this Friday as Penang’s new state executive councillor, replacing Fahmi Zainol.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Ramli Ngah Talib has approved the appointment. The ceremony will take place at 11am at Seri Mutiara.
Fahmi, who previously headed the Agrotechnology, Food Security and Cooperative Development portfolio, was removed after Parti Keadilan Rakyat proposed his termination.
He had been suspended earlier following a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to his wife, which he has denied.
The first-term Pantai Jerejak assemblyman was charged at the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court on February 27 over an alleged incident on February 22.
