GEORGE TOWN, March 6 – Four men pleaded not guilty at the George Town Sessions Court on Thursday to conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm to a man using a machete in an incident at Gurney Paragon Mall last month.
The accused — Kisheaan Gunasegaran, 29; Yogayoggan Sivasubramaniam, 26; Heganeswaran Servai Shanmuganathan, 28; and Sarvindran Kirishna Kumar, 23 — entered their pleas before Judge Irwan Suainbon.
They are accused of conspiring to cause grievous injury to Prashanraj A/L Sivasamy, 33, during the attack near the entrance of a Hyundai showroom at the mall on Feb 25. The charge, framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code read together with Section 120B.
Carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment, along with a possible fine or whipping upon conviction. The court granted bail of RM15,000 with one surety each and ordered the accused to report to a police station monthly and avoid contacting the victim or witnesses.
Deputy public prosecutor Lee Jun Keong led the prosecution, while the accused were represented by lawyer Lim Xian Zhi. The case is set for mention on April 15.
