GEORGE TOWN, March 6 – Goh Choon Aik was officially sworn in as a new member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) during a ceremony held at Seri Mutiara, George Town on March 6, 2026.
The appointment ceremony took place before Ramli Ngah Talib in accordance with Article 7 of the Penang State Constitution. Following the appointment, the Penang state government also announced a restructuring of several EXCO portfolios involving three council members.
Under the restructuring effective March 6, Mohamad Abdul Hamid will continue serving as Deputy Chief Minister I while overseeing Islamic Development, Education and Higher Education, as well as Cooperative Development.
Rashidi Zinol will take charge of Rural Development, Agrotechnology, Food Security and Entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, Goh Choon Aik will oversee Trade and Community Unity.
The Penang government expressed confidence that the refreshed leadership lineup will strengthen governance and help drive the state’s long-term development agenda under the Penang2030 vision.
