KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 – Former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has expressed interest in rejoining the party following UMNO’s announcement that former members are welcome to return through the “Rumah Bangsa” initiative.
In a preview of his Keluar Sekejap podcast, Khairy asked his press secretary, Raja Syahrir Raja Abu Bakar, to begin drafting an application letter for his possible return. Khairy said the move represents a positive development and an opportunity for him personally.
The initiative was announced by UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said the party’s doors are open to former members who were expelled or suspended. Khairy was sacked from UMNO in January 2023 for breaching party discipline during the 15th General Election.
Since then, he has remained active in public discussions through media and podcast platforms.
