KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 – Chairman of the Penang Port Commission, Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, recently visited Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur to explore potential collaboration on developing a smart port ecosystem for Penang.
During the visit, Yeoh was welcomed by Huawei Malaysia Deputy CEO Du Xianjun and Director of Transportation Solutions Hugh Lin, who presented Huawei’s latest innovations in intelligent transportation and smart port technologies.
Yeoh emphasised that ports play a crucial role in global trade, with nearly 90% of international commerce conducted via maritime shipping. He noted that integrating technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and the Internet of Things.
Could significantly enhance port efficiency, safety and sustainability. Both parties also discussed aligning smart port solutions with Malaysia’s port digitalisation efforts to strengthen efficiency and competitiveness in the global maritime logistics sector.
