GEORGE TOWN, March 9 – Yeoh Soon Hin has expressed concern over the potential impact of rising tensions in the Middle East on the global tourism industry, noting that the situation should be closely monitored due to its possible ripple effects on international travel.

The Tourism Malaysia Vice Chairman said the global aviation and tourism network is highly interconnected, and disruptions in the region could affect flight routes, oil prices and traveller confidence.

He noted that Malaysia welcomed about 42 million international visitors in 2025, with around 8% coming from the Middle East and nearby regions. To mitigate risks, Tourism Malaysia is strengthening cooperation with airlines and tourism partners.
