KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 – The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal has announced that the sighting of the Syawal crescent moon to determine the start of Hari Raya Aidilfitri will take place on the evening of March 19, 2026, corresponding to 29 Ramadan 1447H.
The announcement was made following the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers. The crescent moon observation will be conducted at 29 designated locations nationwide.
Including observatories and hilltops in states such as Johor, Selangor, Kedah, Terengganu, Sarawak, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia determines the beginning of Syawal using the rukyah (moon sighting) and hisab (astronomical calculation) methods.
The official date for Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be announced on the same evening through national radio and television broadcasts.
