PERMATANG PAUH, March 12 – The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry will review its promotional strategies to ensure the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign remains on track amid rising tensions in West Asia.
Minister Tiong King Sing said the ministry will hold an internal meeting to assess the situation and discuss possible adjustments, as the conflict could affect tourism promotion efforts, particularly in markets from the region.
Tiong said some airlines have temporarily suspended or adjusted flights due to airspace closures in major aviation hubs such as Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi. The ministry will explore alternative promotional strategies to offset potential disruptions and sustain tourism momentum.
The VM2026 campaign targets 47 million international tourist arrivals and RM329 billion in tourism revenue, making it a key initiative for Malaysia’s tourism sector.
