BAYAN LEPAS, March 14 – The Penang state government has allocated 10 acres of industrial land worth about RM40 million for the development of the Penang Automation, Test and Equipment (ATE) Campus.
The announcement was made during a collaboration workshop organised by InvestPenang, bringing together 14 multinational corporations and 18 local ATE companies to explore partnerships and strengthen the state’s semiconductor ecosystem ahead of the campus launch targeted in the second quarter of 2026.
The initiative aims to accelerate innovation and support localisation opportunities between multinational firms and local technology companies in sectors such as integrated device manufacturing, electronics manufacturing services and medical technology.
The project is also aligned with Malaysia’s National Semiconductor Strategy and seeks to strengthen supply chain resilience while creating new growth opportunities for local companies in the global semiconductor industry.
