KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — Former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has formally appealed to rejoin the party after submitting a letter to UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during a meeting held on the 26th night of Ramadan.
Zahid confirmed receiving the appeal and said the request would be forwarded to the Rumah Bangsa Unity Committee chaired by Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin for further consideration.
Zahid described the move as reflecting the spirit of UMNO’s “Rumah Bangsa” initiative, which aims to reunite former members and strengthen party unity.
Khairy later confirmed his intention to return, saying he had formally requested for his expulsion to be revoked and his original membership reinstated.
He stressed that his return comes without conditions or personal ambition, adding that he only hopes to contribute to strengthening the party moving forward.
