KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 – The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has officially been accepted into Perikatan Nasional (PN), becoming the coalition’s fifth component party.
PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan confirmed that, while MIC’s entry was approved in December 2025, the party’s membership was formally ratified at the PN Supreme Council meeting last Saturday.
He will present an official letter to MIC President Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran tonight. Takiyuddin added that more than five other parties have applied to join PN, reflecting the coalition’s increasingly inclusive leadership structure.
Appointments within PN are now shared across member parties, affiliated organisations, and individual associates, expanding participation beyond just PAS and Bersatu.
This strategic inclusivity allows new members, including MIC, the potential to hold positions and contribute to PN’s broader political agenda.
