KLANG, March 17 — Port Klang recorded its highest-ever container throughput in 2025, handling 15.14 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

The figure marks a 3.4 per cent increase from 14.64 million TEUs in 2024 and represents the highest volume since the port began operations in 1973,

Reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading container hubs. Transshipment volumes also rose by 6.2 per cent to 8.41 million TEUs.

Highlighting Port Klang’s growing importance as a regional logistics gateway. The announcement was made during the launch of the new seven-storey administrative annex building at the Port Klang Authority.

Completed in October 2025 at a cost of RM21.136 million. Looking ahead, the port aims to handle 15.37 million TEUs in 2026.

Major infrastructure projects, including the Westports 2 expansion and a proposed third terminal on Carey Island, are expected to support future growth.
