WhatsApp is testing a new “guest chats” feature that allows users to start conversations with people who do not have a WhatsApp account.

The feature, currently available to a limited number of beta testers on iOS, Android, and the web, enables users to generate a chat link and share it via SMS or other apps.

When the recipient opens the link, it launches a secure conversation through WhatsApp Web. Guest chats are protected with end-to-end encryption.

Ensuring only participants can read the messages. Guests must open the link, accept the terms, enter their name, and initiate the chat, which will be labeled as “Guest.”

However, the feature currently does not support group chats, voice messages, attachments, stickers, GIFs, or calls, and conversations will expire after 10 days of inactivity.
