PUTRAJAYA, March 19 – Malaysia will continue engaging the United States on a new trade framework following the voiding of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

He confirmed that Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani will lead ongoing discussions with Washington after the matter was raised in the Cabinet meeting.

The ART, signed in October 2025, became null after a US Supreme Court ruling deemed global tariffs imposed under former President Donald Trump unlawful.

Fahmi noted there are no new developments yet, as both countries continue exploring the next steps for bilateral trade cooperation.
