PETALING JAYA, March 19 — Newly appointed Perikatan Nasional (PN) treasurer-general Sanusi Nor has revealed that the coalition currently has just RM2,700 in its coffers while conducting an audit of its finances.
Highlighting the high costs of election campaigns, he noted that contesting a single parliamentary seat requires at least RM1 million, though PN’s volunteer-driven machinery allows operations to continue despite limited funds.
Sanusi, also Kedah menteri besar, urged supporters to continue donating to the coalition ahead of the general election. He emphasized that parties should avoid dubious funding sources.
And refrain from using government resources for political purposes. Insisting that member donations are essential to revive healthy, sustainable political practices in Malaysia.
