GEORGE TOWN, March 20 — The Penang government has allocated RM25.34 million this year to develop mosques and surau statewide, reinforcing their roles as centres of worship, education, and community unity.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the amount marks an increase from RM17.67 million last year, with 258 mosques currently in operation, including seven newly completed ones. He added that the state continues to support Islamic education and institutions.
While urging communities to uphold unity and harmony. In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chow encouraged the public to strengthen relationships, practise forgiveness, and promote peace as part of Penang’s inclusive development agenda.
