PERMATANG PAUH, March 21 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim began his one-day working visit to Penang by performing Friday prayers at Masjid Jamek As-Syakirin, Kampung Pelet, alongside nearly 700 worshippers.

He later visited the Permatang Pasir community to observe Aidilfitri preparations and attended a community programme with local leaders, emphasising unity and togetherness during the festive season.

Speaking at the event, Anwar urged Malaysians to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in moderation, citing rising global economic uncertainties and increasing costs driven by international conflicts. He stressed the importance of prudent spending and avoiding waste.

Noting that while the government continues to cushion the impact through subsidies, households should remain financially disciplined. Anwar also assured that Malaysia’s economy remains stable, with measures in place to manage fuel prices and supply disruptions.
