KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 — Lim Guan Eng has criticised the Penang government following significant downward revisions in land tax bills, arguing that reductions of up to 90 per cent indicate a flawed system.
He cited cases where taxes surged drastically before being corrected after public intervention, questioning the credibility of the calculation framework.
Lim said the repeated revisions point to systemic issues rather than isolated errors, urging a complete overhaul of the land tax system.
He also called on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to take accountability and ensure future reforms are developed through proper consultation with stakeholders, including landowners and residents.
