GEORGE TOWN, March 22 — Chow Kon Yeow has expressed appreciation to Anthony Loke Siew Fook for arranging a three-way meeting to address concerns over Penang’s revised quit rent rates.

He confirmed that a detailed report on the implementation of the new land tax, which took effect on January 1, 2026, will be prepared and submitted as part of efforts to resolve the matter.

Chow also said he would comply with party leadership instructions to refrain from discussing the issue publicly to avoid negative perceptions affecting the party and state government.

At the same time, he urged affected landowners to continue submitting appeals through district land offices and the State Land and Mines Office at Komtar.

The move comes amid ongoing public concern over the revised rates, with authorities encouraging formal appeal channels to address individual cases.
