KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — Cambodia has become one of the fastest-growing markets for Malaysia’s medical tourism sector, recording a 219% surge in patients over the past two years.
The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council(MHTC) said 11,690 Cambodian patients sought treatment in Malaysia in 2025, a 375% increase from the previous year, generating RM29.1 million in revenue.
Patients travelled for services ranging from health screenings to cancer, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal treatments.
Popular destinations included Kuala Lumpur, George Town and Melaka. MHTC said stronger partnerships and improved accessibility have boosted confidence ahead of Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026.
