GEORGE TOWN, March 28 — The Penang City Council today officially launched its Gen.AI Chatbot, ChatMBPP, marking a major step in transforming public service delivery through artificial intelligence.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeowhighlighted that the chatbot, developed by the council’s Smart City Unit, enables residents to access information.
Lodge complaints and manage licensing services efficiently in multiple languages, including Malay, English, Mandarin, and Tamil.
Datuk Bandar Rajendran P. Anthony said the initiative aligns with the Penang2030 Smart City vision and the Digital Economy Master Plan 2025–2030.
Aiming to make the state a leading AI and innovation hub in Southeast Asia. Powered by 5G and generative AI, ChatMBPP is currently in Beta testing.
With capabilities to understand natural language, automate processes, and integrate feedback to improve services, setting a new benchmark for local government digitalisation in Malaysia.
