GEORGE TOWN, March 30 — The Penang State Health Department has confirmed an inspection of Kapitan Restaurant in Lorong Pitt after a viral complaint.
The Northeast District Health Office conducted a thorough check on March 16, 2026, finding the restaurant’s hygiene generally satisfactory but noting areas needing improvement.
Corrective instructions and hygiene guidance were provided to ensure full compliance with the Food Act 1983 and Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
The restaurant operator also received education on safe food handling practices. The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining high food safety standards in Penang.
And thanked the public for reporting concerns, emphasizing that ongoing monitoring and enforcement will continue to safeguard consumer health.
