GEORGE TOWN, March 31 —  Entopia, Penang’s premier nature-based attraction, marks its 40th anniversary with a year-long “Calendar of Discovery” and a series of initiatives to enhance visitor engagement and support the state’s tourism.

The announcement was made at a press conference officiated by Wong Hon Wai, alongside key tourism stakeholders. From its beginnings as the Penang Butterfly Farm in 1986, Entopia has become a leading centre for biodiversity education and environmental awareness.

To celebrate, it launched the reimagined Entopia Discovery Pass, offered at a special RM40 for Penang residents for 40 days from March 29 to May 7 (regular price RM200). The pass allows unlimited access and encourages repeated engagement throughout the year.

Key highlights include the Entopia Discovery Challenge, with prizes worth up to RM100,000 and the Bug Festival from July 4–8 featuring interactive, family-friendly exhibits. Educational initiatives include “Entrance on Us” for teachers.

A 40% Twinning Bundle for collaborative school bookings, and a year-round RM40 rate for secondary students participating in selected programs. The 40th anniversary also sees Entopia streamline its branding, removing “by Penang Butterfly Farm”.

To reflect its evolution into a comprehensive nature discovery centre. According to Wong Hon Wai, these initiatives position Penang as a hub for meaningful, experience-driven tourism.
