GEORGE TOWN, March 31 — Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang has extended support to families affected by a fire in Kampung Din Bamboo, Batu Feringgi, which destroyed 11 closely built wooden homes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The hotel’s in-house fire response team assisted local fire services to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. In the aftermath, Shangri-La provided affected families with three nights of complimentary accommodation, offering a safe space to recover and coordinate longer-term housing.

General Manager Jegan Selvarajan emphasized the hotel’s commitment to the community, ensuring immediate relief for vulnerable residents, particularly children and the elderly, while local authorities continue to assess the situation and provide additional aid.
