KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said Malaysia is exploring a strategic collaboration with the University of Cambridge, to strengthen sustainable urban planning and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.
The proposed Malaysia-Cambridge urban platform aims to enhance international cooperation in building affordable, resilient and inclusive cities.
Speaking at a forum in Cambridge, Nga highlighted key housing priorities, including capping affordable home prices at RM300,000 and promoting climate-resilient developments.
He noted Malaysia’s homeownership rate has reached 76.5 per cent and nearly 1,350 abandoned housing projects have been revived since 2023.
The initiative reflects the government’s push to boost global partnerships while advancing urban innovation and governance.
