PETALING JAYA, April 3 — Anwar Ibrahim announced that work-from-home (WFH) arrangements for government ministries, agencies, statutory bodies and GLCs will take effect from April 15.
As Malaysia responds to the global energy crisis triggered by the West Asia conflict. The move aims to reduce fuel consumption and ensure sustainable energy supply.
With the government currently spending about RM4 billion monthly to cushion rising oil prices. Under the policy, eligible civil servants working in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor and state capitals.
And living over 8km from their workplace, will work from home three days weekly. Critical sectors such as security, healthcare and education are exempted.
Officers must log attendance hourly via a geolocation system, while department heads monitor productivity.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to stabilise energy supply, manage costs, and protect Malaysians from economic impact.
