KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — PAS has denied claims that it supports Hamzah Zainudin to remain as Opposition Leader, reaffirming its intention to assume the role and announce a replacement soon.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party has already identified a candidate, with the official announcement expected before the next Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The move follows earlier statements by Perikatan Nasional leaders that a PAS representative would take over the position after Hamzah’s removal from Bersatu.
While the announcement has been delayed, PAS leadership stressed that discussions are ongoing among coalition partners to reach a consensus.
Party president Abdul Hadi Awang noted that the decision will involve all opposition parties, adding that there is still sufficient time before the upcoming parliamentary session in June.
