KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Malaysian Meteorological Department will conduct tsunami warning siren tests across Penang today, urging residents to remain calm as the exercise is part of routine preparedness measures.
The tests will take place at three locations: Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque from 9am to 10am, Masjid Ar-Rahman Batu Ferringhi from 11am to noon, and the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority facility in Teluk Bahang from 2pm to 3pm.
Authorities stressed the exercise is to ensure the tsunami early warning system remains fully operational and effective. Residents, especially those near the test sites, are advised not to panic upon hearing the sirens.
