KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 —  Thean Hock Keong has confirmed the full cancellation of its planned Aidilfitri open house on April 11.

Rejecting claims that a replacement “unity” banquet would proceed. The temple clarified that no event will be held under its name or by any affiliated group.

Disputing earlier remarks by Mohamad Abdul Hamid regarding an alternative. The cancellation follows objections from the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department.

Which ruled that such celebrations require approval. The temple said it complied to avoid misunderstanding, despite its intention to promote unity.

It also distanced itself from any separate gathering reportedly planned in Bagan Ajam, urging authorities to prevent further public confusion over the matter.
